Kinesiology at PRE Therapy
A kinesiologist bridges the gap between passive treatment and returning to full function. Where massage therapy and physiotherapy address the tissue, your kinesiologist addresses the movement — rebuilding strength, stability, and confidence in your body's ability to move without pain. At PRE Therapy, our kinesiologists work as an integrated part of your care team, combining their sessions with your RMT or physiotherapy plan for faster, more durable results.
The right time to start Active Rehab
Most patients are ready to begin active rehab once their acute pain has settled enough to move with some control — typically within the first few weeks of an injury. Starting early matters. Waiting too long allows compensatory movement patterns to set in, which makes recovery slower and more complex. Your kinesiologist will assess your current pain level and range of motion at your first session and build a plan that's appropriately paced. For ICBC claims, active rehab is pre-approved for the first 12 weeks from your accident date, with $0 user fee for both initial and follow-up sessions.
What does a Kinesiology session look like?
Your first session begins with a movement assessment to identify the areas of weakness, instability, or restricted range of motion driving your symptoms. From there, your kinesiologist designs a progressive exercise program tailored to your current capacity and long-term goals. Sessions are hands-on and coached — not just a paper handout. As you progress, the program evolves to meet you where you are.

FAQs
+ What’s the difference between Kinesiology and Physiotherapy?
Although both Kinesiologists and Physiotherapists incorporate active rehab into their treatments, a Kinesiologist’s main treatment plan is mostly active movement with stability training. Physiotherapists typically include other modalities to relieve symptoms with manual therapy and IMS needling.
+ I have an ICBC claim. How do I get started?
If your accident date just occurred, you will have pre-approved sessions for RMT and Kin for 12 weeks from that date (once a week).
If your accident date occured a while back, we will need a doctors note (written referral for RMT and/or KIn) as well as written approval from your adjuster for the sessions.
+ When will I be ready for Active Rehab?
A great time to start incorporate Active Rehab would be when your pain has subsided to a comfortable level. This will allow the body to create more stabilty in the affected areas so you are more resilient.
+ How quickly will I progress with Active Rehab?
The progress will vary depending on each individual case. In our experience, with massage therapy is paired with Active Rehab, it allows for our patients to experience a faster progression in becoming pain-free.
